As part of Georgetown’s commitment to sustainable waste management, GEMS and Special Events are piloting a single-stream recycling system at events for the Spring 2020 semester.
While doing the reservation, check the “recycling” box to add a recycling bin if your event will have:
- Plastic serving ware (cups, bottles, or plates)
- Aluminum cans
- Clean paper such as flyers
The events will be set up with two cardboard bins at each waste station. The trash bin will be lined with a black bag and a landfill label, and the recycling bin will be lined with a clear bag and a single-stream recycling label (see the images below).

If you have any questions about recycling at Georgetown, please see the website for more information.
Thank you for helping us to pilot this system!
